Battling qualities saw us through in the end

WELL another win for Hednesford last weekend but this time one in which we showed how battling our side can be.

Everyone has seen over our last couple of games that we can score goals so it was nice to show that we can do the other part of what is needed in this league – and that is getting a scrappy victory.

I must admit there were times on Saturday when I thought a win against Frickley was just not going to happen for us.

They defended well and were tough and nothing seemed to be going our way during the match.

Our top scorers, Tyrone Barnett, Ross Dyer and Elliott Durrell were on the end of some tough marking and it looked like one of those games we would not be able to take three points from.

You can see why we were being marked as such as those three players alone have scored something like 60 goals so far this season.

We showed that we can overcome that type of game plan, though, however late we left it.

We kept plugging away and in the end we got what we deserved with a well worked goal.

Sam Hall, who was not on for long, sent over a fantastic cross and in all honesty there was about seven of us ready to head that home.

The scenes after the goal showed what it meant to us all – we know that with Eastwood going well we just have to keep winning.

It was good to see last weekend Luke Edwards come on and do well.

He is a new signing the manager has brought in and one by the looks of it that will add quality to the squad.

He brought pace and new ideas onto the pitch when he came on and that can only be a good thing for the side in the run in.

We are going to need to have fresh legs available as the campaign ticks on not just to keep each other on our toes, but to keep the opposition guessing also.

We are hoping that the impetus from the victory last weekend can be taken forward into this Saturday and our game at home to Marine.
