Bureaucracy has gone mad

Birmingham City Council's refusal to install a safety mirror at the junction of Wylde Green Road and Eastview Road on the grounds that someone may wrongly judge what they see in it, have an accident and then blame the council, seems to be yet again bureaucracy gone mad.

This is a very dangerous junction which has been recently realigned. The problem is that, since the realignment, it's even more difficult to see traffic from the left when turning right out of Eastview Road.

The mirror that had been installed and then removed eased the problem somewhat.

Someone in the Highways Department needs to completely reassess this junction.

Will it happen? I doubt it. The philosophy of "if we make no decision we can't be blamed for making a wrong one" will probably still apply.
