Romulus defender Richard Munday scored twice to seal victory against Chesham.

ROMULUS look ahead to Saturday's visit of Biggleswade Town (kick off 3pm) in buoyant mood after thrashing title hopefuls Chesham United in their own backyard last weekend.

Spartan South Midlands League champions Biggleswade have made a steady start to the first Southern League campaign and are currently unbeaten in five matches.

But that will not daunt the Roms who have now won four straight matches, pushing them to the edge of the play-off places and seeing them through to the last eight of two cup competitions.

"At Chesham we played well but the main aspect was us putting the ball in the net," said manager Richard Evans

"We took our chances for once but I'm not over confident that will keep happening so we need to work hard to maintain our current progress."

The secret of the current success, according to Evans, is his side's stability after a spate of injuries and period of bedding in new players.

He added: "We are looking settled. The end of last season and the start of this season has almost been like a practice in terms of getting new players in to replace lads, some of whom were not quite good enough.

"We are ambitious and are trying to make the play-offs in this division."

With this in mind Evans also called on local people to support the side tomorrow, when the Roms are without Peter Folkes who is still suffering with a dislocated knee.

"Biggleswade is a big game for us," added Evans. It's going to be a long slog making this club competitive at Southern Premier level and we need our public behind us. You only have to look at Stourbridge and how close they ran Walsall in the Cup to see what a step up it is."

● THE Romulus Fiver Footy Promotion returns for tomorrow's game where adults will pay just £5, concessions £2. Any paying adult can take two kids for free.
