Here's hoping for a big crowd for Stafford crunch

WELL, with regards to our rivals, we couldn't have wished for a better set of results than last weekend.

We picked up a draw but Southport and Gateshead both lost and now we are in a terrific position to go on and win the title.

We are not taking anything for granted and we certainly cannot afford to take our foot off the gas.

I'm a big golf fan and in that you can be flying high at one point – say two under par – and then you get to the 18th green and fire a double bogey and things change.

Football is no different really – things can turn around and while we may be the clear favourites with the bookies, nothing is won yet.

We have a massive weekend ahead of us with Stafford at home and then a trip to Redditch on Monday.

People have said that we could win the league on Monday but we are not thinking of that at all.

The only thing that matters is the game on Saturday and it won't be easy.

Stafford have done okay under Chris Brindley.

They are still struggling for points but look like they are going to stay up and, of course, they beat Gateshead easily on Saturday.

We know full well that we will have to be on our game to get the right result. Taking one game at a time has been our aim all year and we are staying fully focused.

We are in a great position but we have to make sure we keep our nerve now and go on and finish the job.

Hopefully, the fans will get behind us this weekend when we entertain Stafford.

It's a big local derby and when you consider what's at stake, it'd be great to see a four figure gate down at The Lamb and a cracking atmosphere.

Finally, I'd like to say congratulations to Danny Alcock who became the proud father of a baby girl last Thursday.

It could end up a cracking year for him, if we go on to win promotion as well!

Also this week, Gareth Sheldon has been moping. He wasn't happy on Monday was Shelds.

The thing is, you see, he's in a bit of a goal drought having not scored for two games and it's upset him.

And the thing is Wrighty's on a bit of a roll with two goals in as many games.

Shelds is a worried man and a bit jealous I reckon.

Wrighty has something like 14 goals compared to Shelds' 24. My money's on Nick catching him!!
