Why should we pay to enter park when we already fund it with tax?

BEAR with me if I was absent when it was decided to charge £1.50 on Saturdays and Sundays to enter Sutton Park by car.

Who on earth suggested a charge to enjoy one of 'Birmingham's' unspoilt areas? Isn't it enough that we have had to surrender it to a council who charge us quite enough in council tax, without having to pay to enjoy it?

Do residents of Handsworth and Erdington have to pay to enter their parks in a vehicle? Or is it justified as a 'parking fee' since we can no longer drive through?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.
