We had suffered a few losses and the confidence had dipped a bit as a result so it was the right time to play a team struggling near the bottom.
We knew it was important to get the win because we have got a few big games coming up.
Now we go on to the Kendal game this weekend and hope to get another three points.
I think we are playing the best football in the league and we are capable of beating anybody.
The week after that we host Eastwood Town in the league in a big clash.
We've been watching their results and they've been picking up 1-0 and 2-1 wins against sides in the bottom half of the league.
So we've always known they were going to slip up and drop points at some stage but it was a good feeling to see they had lost on Saturday because it closes the gap.
If we can beat them on our home soil, I think it will go right to the wire.
Back to the Leigh game and Ross Dyer smashed in a hat-trick – he's in great form.
A few years back when he broke into the first team he struggled for form at first but last season he scored a hatful of goals and has carried that into this term.
It's certainly encouraging times up front for us and hopefully if we can continue doing the business at the back too, we will give ourselves a good chance of promotion.
We were working out recently that the average age of the side is 22, which bodes well. It is such a young squad and we have got years ahead of us where we can develop further.
Hopefully that will enable us to go up this year and show the teams in the Conference North we are not there to make up the numbers this time.
The last manager to take us to that level was Chris Brindley – and he will be back at Keys Park managing Stafford Rangers on Tuesday night in the quarter-final of the Staffs Senior Cup.
I haven't seen him for a few months but he gave me my chance and I know he's doing a decent job at Stafford despite all the financial problems they've had there.
So I wish him all the best but hopefully we'll be on the right end of the result.
