Woman's body found in Sutton Park pool

THE body of an 'elderly' woman was found in one of Sutton Park's pools by a passerby yesterday.

The grim discovery was made shortly after 9am on Thursday morning at Longmoor Pool.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Officers sealed off the Banners Gate and Boldmere Gate entrances to the beauty spot while investigations were underway.

As the Observer went to press formal identification had yet to be made. Police were in the process of informing the woman's family.

A police spokesperson said: "The body has now been recovered and taken to the mortuary.

"There are no suspicious circumstances."
