Sad to be out of cup but a bigger prize is at stake

IT'S been a disappointing week for me as I missed the game against Stourbridge on Tuesday with a throat problem.

I have been resting up in bed for a couple of days so I didn't even get to The Lamb for the game.

It was obviously a poor result. I spoke to the gaffer about it and he admitted it wasn't a good display.

It's disappointing that we won't be going to Villa Park, The Hawthorns or St Andrews or wherever.

But we have to move on now and focus on the league with games coming thick and fast between now and the end of the season.

The Saturday, Tuesday scenarios come thick and fast now and this week we have Workington at home and Gainsborough away which will both be tough.

We need to bounce back from the disappointment of the last few weeks.

People will no doubt be looking at things and saying we are in the middle of a blip.

Maybe results haven't been great in the last couple of weeks but the key is for everyone to stick together and we know we can string wins together.

We played well against Telford a couple of weeks ago, although the result went against us.

But Vauxhall was very disappointing because we didn't perform at all.

We were totally off the pace in the first half but at least we showed enough spirit to fight back from 2-0 down.

Salvaging a draw wasn't enough to keep us on top of the table as we were ousted by Gateshead.

Are we disappointed? Well obviously you want to be top of the table because it's great from a visual point of view and it gives you confidence.

But it's so tight at the top that it was inevitable that someone else might take up the mantle at some point.

Teams have games in hand on each other at the moment so we will see what happens when we have played the same amount of matches.

As the gaffer has said all season and I totally agree, it's all about us. We don't need to worry about anyone else, we just have to focus on ourselves.
