Rumour mill has been going into overdrive

It's been an eventful week and as I write this, we are currently without a manager.

Whether that will be the case by the time you read it, I don't know, but we are trying to carry on as normal.

It's always disappointing when anybody at a football club loses their job.

Jimmy Mullen personally brought me to Walsall but it's the club's decision and nothing to do with any of the players.

He came in to say his goodbves to us all on Monday and we wish him all the best.

It's obviously a case of difficult circumstances and a lot of names have been mentioned, with John Ward being the main one.

But no-one knows where they stand and it's difficult for the caretaker manager John Schofield too.

As players, you just have to try to treat it as a normal week, train hard and give your all on and off the pitch.

It's an unsettling time for everyone and hopefully it will be sorted out sooner rather than later as everyone at the club – staff and supporters – will want it put to bed.

It's always an interesting time to be a player though when there is this uncertainty around a club.

We are like fans really and the rumour mill in the dressing room has been going full blast.

You can see players having little chinwags with each other about who the new manager is going to be.

Someone's heard one name and someone else has heard another, that kind of thing – the lads are all a bunch of gossips really!

Anyway, we have to look ahead and Saturday's trip to Peterborough United is going to be a tough one.

They lost to West Bromwich Albion in the Cup in midweek but they are playing well and have been a handful for every team they have taken on.

Finally, it seems as though Paul Boertien and Marco Reich might be leaving the club at the end of January.

We all knew the situation with their six-month contracts but if they do go, it will be a great loss.

They are both good pros and good senior pros at that so with a small squad like ours, we will miss them.
