Robbers target Four Oaks Post Office
Monday, November 17, 2008, 15:59
A police cordon is in place at the Lichfield Road business in Mere Green. According to witnesses, the cordon also takes in the neighbouring opticians which is being visited by police officers.
The first residents knew of the incident was when smoke began 'billowing' outside nearby flats in Farnborough Court, Mere Green Road. According to a passer-by who contacted the Observer, residents understand from police that the smoke is coming from a burned-out car used in a robbery. A fire engine and police patrol car is in attendance.
The witness said there were 'four or five' police officers at both scenes.
"There is a lot of smoke," she said, "it's fair to say it's billowing."
No ambulances are in attendance.
Armed robbers struck at Four Oaks Post Office in February.
