Ridsdale gets more worked up than Charlie!

IT was a great victory at Soham for us on Saturday and one I felt we deserved as we were in control from start to finish.

We began the game well, got on top quickly and played some nice football at times – and it was relatively comfortable once we got a couple of goals.

With the injuries we had, there was a bit of concern about being depleted but getting a result like that just shows the depth and quality that we possess.

Soham are a decent side and not many teams will go there and win 3-0 this season.

So then three days later for our big home game against Nuneaton Town to be called off because of the snow was disappointing.

A lot of our big home games – Nuneaton, Atherstone, Leamington – have been postponed due to the weather.

And all those games have been called off on the back of big wins for us – we would been going into them on a high.

But there is not a lot you can do about the weather so we have just got to get on with it.

This weekend – weather permitting – we host Arlesey Town and it is a big one for us because a lot of our rivals near the top have tricky games and I can see some of them dropping points.

There are no easy games but being at home it is one we would expect to win if we approach it right.

Then on Tuesday we visit Bedworth United, which is almost a home game for me – it's only ten minutes away from where I live!

I played there for two-and-a-half seasons and had some good times before going to Halesowen, who paid £4,000 for me.

I sometimes get a bit of stick when I go back there but I always remind them that they got a few quid for me in return!

To round off this week, I had a great time at the Ricoh Arena last Wednesday when Cardiff City invited Mick Joiner and I to be guests in their directors' box – even though my team Coventry lost!

I was a bit star-struck because Roy Hodgson was sat next to me, George Burley was sat behind me and Peter Ridsdale, the Cardiff chairman, was right in front of me.

I've never known someone jump up and down as much during a match as Ridsdale did – we've finally found somebody more animated and worked-up than the gaffer Charlie!
