Old boy Blues haunt McLeish and his side

I must start this column this week by saying that was just not good enough from Blues.

I was at the game on Monday night and was very disappointed with what I saw to be honest.

The lads did not get going and I saw Colin Calderwood at the game and thought he must be delighted as his Nottingham Forest side take on Blues this weekend.

There was a very flat atmosphere around the ground after the game and you can see why.

I know Sky gave the man of the match award to the Sky Blues keeper but it really was not that kind of game.

I admit he produced three or four really out of this world saves but it was not like he was doing it every minute.

It was not a barrage on the Coventry goal type of game and I think a lot of people would have been hoping for that.

No disrespect to Coventry but they are the type of team that Blues should be beating this season.

The defeat was their second in a row but it is still early days so any ground lost of Wolves should not be worried about too much yet.

At the game on Monday I must admit I was tempted to have a bet on Clinton Morrison (pictured below) getting the first goal but decided not to bet against the Blues.

Like I said last week, players always seem to score against their old teams and Clinton went and proved that on the night.

He was unlucky with an effort earlier on that hit the woodwork but he got his goal in the end.

The only thing I questioned about the goal was the fact that Clinton is their centre-forward and good in the air but was being marked by Seb Larsson at the set-piece.

I really rate Seb but you would not put his ability in the air as one of his strong points.

The Blues will be hoping to get back on track after two defeats away at Forest this weekend.

Forest, I know are in the bottom two but I saw their game against Derby on Sunday and thought that after that they will be on a high this weekend.

They are better than their position in the league shows so it will be a tough game for the Blues to get anything out of.
