Manny's knock hit us for six so we're glad he's OK

We had one of those horrible moments on Saturday when a player gets injured and you worry it's serious.

We were all concerned about Manny Smith when he went down, especially as he was down for such a long time.

He had to go to the hospital and have X-rays and the lads waited down in London for him – they didn't get back to Walsall until about midnight!

Anthony Gerrard called me at 9.30pm and said they were still in London. He didn't sound happy but then he never is!

I was 30 or 40 yards away from the collision but knew it was serious when I saw the lads panicking and waving for help.

He was in all our minds when we left the pitch and to be honest it was a bit difficult playing on – the game sort of petered out.

The result, of course, was disappointing and we gave some really sloppy goals away.

The second goal was the worst as it was just before half time and it proved pivotal.

Looking ahead, we host Tranmere on Saturday and they will still believe they make that last play-off spot while Monday brings a trip to Stockport, who have dropped off the pace.

There are five games to go but we don't want to ease off, we want to finish on a high.
