I was only at Hull for six months I know but I knew then that they could be big.
I remember saying that within five years things will happen here – and I know it took six – but they have always had that about them.
It was interesting watching West Brom take them on and the different ways both teams set about the match.
Now I am not pretending to know everything about the coaching side but as an ex player I noticed little things.
Hull set themselves out to allow Geovanni to do what he likes.
The Brazilian played in the hole with three real battlers in midfield behind him.
They also had two English hardmen at the back and I think they were key differences in the game.
I think Tony Mowbray has done great job, and appreciate that he will want to stick by his guns, but I think a little change is needed.
West Brom like to play the ball from back to front and have defenders at the moment who seem reluctant to get stuck in and let people know they are there.
A different type of defender may be needed and maybe, who knows, in January may be coming in.
Also in midfield there does not seem the urgency to break forward quickly, with again patient play the preferred option.
With players like Ishmael Miller up-front you can play it quick to him but at the moment that does not seem to be happening.
As I said I do not have the badges, so am not talking about criticisms here, but I did notice little things.
As a whole West Brom are playing well and there is no doubt in my mind that they would have taken ten points at this stage of the season.
They have lost a few on the bounce, now though, and will be looking to get back to winning ways at home to Blackburn this weekend.
That will be no easy feat as Rovers are packed full of quality players, and in Jason Roberts have a guy who will want to do well even more so.
Jason was at Albion a few years ago and like every old player will want to impress.
West Brom will be looking to get the win at the weekend but it will be hard.
Every team wants there home ground to be like a fortress.
