Mick Danaher's house is doing exactly what it says on the tinsel – Christmas.

Striving to create the most seasonal home in town, he has decked more than the halls – the roof and windows are in on it too. The snag is, so is his daughter.

Lindsey, who lives round the corner, is trying to outdo him in a whole new take on festive family togetherness. "Anything yule can do," she thought, "I can do better." Mick's sleigh bells rang and she was listening.

But there have been no threats of 'yule be sorry', just a good-natured competition that is quickly lighting up the neighbourhood.

"It's fair to say I'm in competition with my daughter," said Mick of Fowler Road, Falcon Lodge.

"It's a friendly contest between ourselves but I started doing it last year; the lights go on at about four or five in the afternoon.

"Now she's doing it and trying to outdo me.

"We've both gone over the top."

What do you think of the Danahers' efforts? Do you think one has outdone the other? Perhaps you have decorated your house to a similar extent or even outdone the pictures here? You may know someone, a friend, family member or neighbour, who has more baubles than they know what to do with. See the Observer's contact details on page 12.
