Baggies must bounce back and do it soon

ANOTHER week and another defeat but I still do not think that the lads should be full on panicking yet.

Although they have not been on the best of runs recently they are still only a few points from mid-table and that is the joy of being in a tight league this season.

A few weeks ago we were in tenth place and a few defeats later, we were bottom.

All we have to do now is reverse that trend and with the league being as tight as it is, we will start to climb once again.

The only problem is getting that win.

I was at Bolton a few years ago when we won the Championship quite comfortably but then struggled a lot the next year in the Premiership.

It was hard to see where the wins were going to come from and a lot of the morale and good feeling around the club soon went.

That is something Tony Mowbray has got to stop from happening.

He has got to keep all the lads believing that they can stay up this season.

He has got to keep them happy and motivated and a win would be the ideal way to do that.

It would help the players and it would also help the money men at the club realise that there is something to save come January.

The last thing you want is to be six or seven points adrift when the window opens as you may find that the wallets stay shut then.

If we are right in the mix of things and fighting hard then the money to keep us up is more likely to be spent.

As I said, there is no better way to do all this than to get the win that we all want.

It will be hard this weekend as Portsmouth have already proved this season that they are nobody's fools.

They are a really good footballing side and showed against AC Milan recently how good they really can be.

It is a really massive test for the Baggies and one that has been made even more important after the defeat last time out to Wigan.

That game would have hurt the players as they outplayed Wigan from the sounds of it and were also in the lead.

To lose was a sucker punch and it will be a real test to see how the players bounce back.
