Elderly deserve more than this
She threw the not-heavy bag a short distance, then shuffled up to it and did it again.
This lady has dementia and is almost blind, and the day before was her 94th birthday.
I managed to get her back in the house, and the living room was in darkness. 'Why?', I asked.
She had asked the carers to change the bulb and put the bag out. "We only do food" came the reply.
And the collectors will not go down the path to collect the not-heavy bag.
Isn't it way past time in this supposedly modern world of ours that those in control made some very simple common sense decisions, instead of hiding behind health and safety, and liability namby-pamby excuses.
Real care for elderly is obviously not top of the agenda for some governing bodies.
