Budding rock stars looking for a venue
Pam Beale, whose 15-year-old son Greg is a keen drummer, is spearheading a drive to support young musicians in the district but needs support and advice from the local community.
"I'd love something to happen locally," Pam told the Mercury .
"But it needs the expertise of people who are willing to help."
Pam is hopeful those in the city with the knowledge will come forward to encourage the aspiring John Bonhams and Jimmy Pages, of which there are plenty.
Every aspect is up for discussion from possible venues and financing the initiative to the provision of equipment and supervision.
Pam became aware of the need while watching her son's attempts to progress.
"We need a place where kids can go along and play music together," she said.
"It would be great for them to be able to meet like-minded people and learn from each other."
Greg, who has been drumming for six years, is not currently in a band but is teaching fellow youngsters to play.
Pam is aware some budding musicians play in schools but believes an organised activity, after school or at the weekend, will bring those who are really interested together.
