Boys getting ready to Bear all for burlesque spectacular

Brace yourself for The Bears, who are performing at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang's burlesque showcase this Saturday.

LICHFIELD'S first and only burlesque night is back this weekend with shows guaranteed to tease, tantalise and titillate from the UK's hottest burlesque acts.

Saturday night's (February 6) Kiss Kiss Bang Bang showcase at the George Hotel, in Bird Street, follows the theme of stars of the silver screen.

It includes a special appearance from everyone's favourite 'boylesquers' The Bears, and the London Burlesque Festival's Best Newcomer, Kiki Kaboom. There will be a surprise in store for local burlesque beauty Lula Mae Rae. And no show would be complete without a performance from the scrumptious Miss Sherry Trifle, who appears fresh from the Rome Burlesque Festival. Joining them is Snappy O'Shea and host for the night, Stagedoor Johnny.

The evening will feature iconic moments from the cinema of yesteryear performed by today's hottest burlesque acts in glorious technicolour. Fancy dress is not compulsory but is strongly encouraged. Suggestions include stunt men, damsels in distress, cult classics, femme fatales, body doubles, action heroes, romantic leads, villains, usherettes, Oscar winners, comedy duos, keystone cops, child stars, B-movie monsters and washed-up actors.

And that's not all. Just by attending you'll be doing your bit for charity, as each night raises much-needed funds.

"We have been running burlesque nights in Lichfield for 12 months and so it's a bit of a special night for us," the organisers said. "We are absolutely delighted that the total amount collected for Breast Cancer Care is £1,000, and we hope to continue to raise money for charity in 2010.

"So many local businesses have supported the nights, donating prizes and even selling tickets for the shows, so we'd like to say a big thanks to all who have supported Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

"This show is going to be a real cracker. Fred Bear wowed audiences with his performance back in June and now returns with the rest of The Bears in tow.

"It's definitely going to be one to remember, so dress to impress and we'll see you at the movie show."

Doors open at 7.30pm.

Seating is strictly limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Tickets are £15 per person. To book call the Lichfield Garrick on 01543 412121.
